Dirty Dog Trail Run – Saturday, August 17, 2024

10K run, 5K run/walk, 1 mile walk

Purpose:
To provide funding to Shelter House to ensure victims of domestic violence can provide a safe haven for their pets.

SOS Animal Rescue to provide funding for animals in need through their foster, pet food, and spay/neuter assistance programs.

Location: Midland City Forest located at 2840 E. Monroe Rd. (1/4 mile west of Eastman Ave.), Midland, MI 48642.

Race: The 15th annual Dirty Dog Trail Run is for runners of all skill levels to run with or without their dogs. The course is a combination of unpaved two-track and single track trails that twist and turn over flat land and hills in the scenic woods of Midland City Forest. City Forest is a 520 acre preserve of woods, creeks, marshes, and bridges, making for an enjoyable and challenging off-road run.

Not interested in running on hills and single track trails? Join the 1 mile walk over a flat, unpaved course through the woods.

COVID-19: We are not expecting to implement any special precautions for COVID-19. This is subject to change based on CDC and government guidelines.

Registration: Sign up before August 1st to avoid late fees. Same day registration is available from 8:00 to 8:45 am. Pre-registration has the option to purchase a shirt for $10. Shirts are not guaranteed for late and same day registrations. Shirts are men’s sizes. Youth shirts are available as well. Sign up for the race at www.itsyourrace.com

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS – Tentative schedule to spread out runners. Will adjust as the race gets closer.

8:00 a.m. Registration Opens
9:00 a.m. Runners without Dogs
9:05 a.m. Runners with Dogs
9:10 a.m. Walkers without Dogs
9:15 a.m. Walkers with Dogs
9:16 a.m. 1 Mile Walkers
Race is chipped timing so no need to be at the front of the pack to start. Race start times are suggested to allow faster racers to start ahead of the slower ones to minimize passing on the course. The times are also to allow some separation between people with dogs and without dogs.

Awards – 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals will be handed out to winners post race. Times will be posted on the race website.

Race Timing: This race will be chip timed by Miller Race Management complete with a kiosk for time & place as soon as you finish.

Event Management: Dig Deep Races

Dogs: Pet participation is encouraged but not required. We ask you to be considerate of your dog’s ability and limitations. All dogs are to be kept on leashes, no exceptions. Please be aware of your surroundings and keep dog to dog interactions to a minimum. Also, recognize that not everyone is a ‘dog’ person.

Refreshments: A water station will be located mid course. Fruit, snacks, and water will be provided post race.

Weather: The race will occur rain or shine. In the event of thunder or lightning before the race begins or is anticipated during the race, we’ll postpone the run and ask participants to wait inside their vehicles until 30 minutes past the last instance of thunder or lightning.

Cancellation: Should cancellation occur, we will not be able to provide refunds for this event. Instead, ALL registrations will automatically be moved to a virtual format and a packet pickup process will be put in place. We hope to see everyone in August!
